Jordan
Hess is an experienced naturalist guide. He has taken hundreds of
guests on small group experiences throughout Alaska, including Denali
National Park, Kenai Fjords National Park, Chugach State Park, Chugach
National Forest, Kachemak Bay State Park, and on the waters of the Kenai
River. He has also been featured in the Chicago Tribune. Jordan has
been a year-round resident of Alaska for ten years. Originally from
Wisconsin, he was drawn to Alaska in part, by a desire to kayak and study
the diversity of Alaska. He studied at the University of Wisconsin, and
holds a degree in Wildlife Biology and Forest Resource Management. He
has been trained as an EMT and holds current first aid and CPR
certifications.
Jordan
has sea-kayaked and hiked extensively in Kachemak Bay State
Park (Homer, Alaska) studying the botany and geology of the recently
de-glaciated landscape. His other personal interests include backcountry
skiing, snowshoeing, and nature photography.
Jordan and his wife Jenny manage
Hideaway Cove Wilderness Lodge.
